In the General Imaging Division, imaging procedures, such as plain radiography, contrast-enhanced radiography, CT, and MRI, are performed. In the Nuclear Medicine Division, nuclear medicine examinations, such as scintigraphy, SPECT, and PET, are conducted. In the Radiotherapy Division, radiotherapy for malignant tumors of whole body organs is carried out. Consultation system/therapeutic strategies General Imaging Division Plain radiography (thoracic/abdominal, cephalic, pediatric, dental, and mammary gland), various contrast-enhanced examinations (digestive tract, urinary tract, and angiography), operating-room imaging (hybrid OR), emergency outpatient unit/ward imaging, bone mineral quantification, CT, and MRI Nuclear Medicine Division Various nuclear medicine examinations (SPECT/CT, PET/CT), management of radioactive medicines, and management of radioactive pollutants Radiotherapy business Intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT), image-guided radiotherapy (IGRT), stereotactic radiation therapy (SRS, SRT), brachytherapy, and permanent insertion brachytherapy Advanced instruments In the Section of Radiology, safe and high-quality examinations as well as a “specialized dock” are carried out using the most advanced 3T-MRI and PET-CT systems by establishing the Advanced Medicine Image Center. In particular, the PET-CT system facilitates accurate assessment of the site of an abnormal finding detected on PET based on CT images. On MRI, high-clinical-value images can be obtained through the fusion of SPECT and CT images by introducing a SPECT-CT system. In our hospital, 64- and 128- multi-detector row CT systems are used. If necessary, three-dimensional image rearrangement is conducted. Furthermore, cardiac/coronary CT is also performed by introducing 64- and 128-sequence CT. Mammography Using a mammograph, X-ray films of the mammary gland and adipose tissue are taken. Our hospital has been authorized as a facility for mammography screening. Certified technologists (5 female technologists) are responsible for mammography. MRI MRI is a procedure of cross-sectional imaging of the human body using magnets and radio waves for diagnosis. In August 2011, a new MR building was constructed, and the most advanced 3T-MRI (n=2) and conventional 1.5T-MRI (n=1) systems were introduced. Currently, examinations are conducted using the 3 MR units. This has facilitated not only shortening of the waiting time but also and more accurate examinations. In the Section of Radiology in Hospital of the university of Fukui, we are making efforts to minimize radiation exposure and provide safe and appropriate examinations/treatment at all times.
