The specialists from our four divisions – spine surgery, joint surgery, hand surgery, and sports medicine – cooperatively deal with the wide range of orthopaedic diseases. Many patients of various kinds of diseases from infants to the elderlies have been referred from hospitals nationwide to seek our effective surgical treatment, especially for the pediatric and adult spinal deformity treatment. We also treat poly-trauma victims with severe injuries in cooperation with our tertiary emergency department of our hospital.      In order to see our doctors at our outpatient clinic for the first time, you are required to bring referral letters from your doctors, particularly if you want to nominate the specific doctors. Activities 1. Medical Practice Targets to treat Spinal deformity – scoliosis, kyphosis, “humpback’ Cervical / Thoracic spine – ossification of posterior longitudinal ligament (OPLL), myelopathy, radiculopathy, ossification of yellow ligament (OYL) Lumbar spine – lumbar spinal stenosis, degenerative spondylolisthesis, disc hernia, spondylolytic spondylolisthesis Shoulder joint- rotator cuff injury, shoulder dislocation, osteoarthritis Hip joint – dysplastic hip, osteoarthritis, acetabular impingement syndrome, labrum tear Knee joint – osteoarthritis, ligamentum injury, meniscus injury Hand, Wrist, Elbow – congenital deformities, neurovascular injuries, tendon injuries, osteoarthritis Foot and Ankle – deformities, osteoarthritis, hallux valgus, flat foot Rheumatoid arthritis Sports medicine- ligament injury, Osteochondritis dissecans, rotator cuff injuries Fractures, traumas- polytrauma, open fractures, w/ or w/o nerve/vascular injuries, amputations Bone tumor, soft tissue tumor- meetastasis, benign tumor, Intradural tumor, tumors in extremities Osteoporosis Others Surgical strategies, techniques Spine: Corrective fusion surgery, Spinal osteotomies, Growth-friendly surgery “growing rod”, Computer navigation- assisted surgery, minimum invasive surgeries (lumbar lateral interbody fusion, percutaneous pedicle screw placement, etc) Joint: Total joint arthroplasty (hip, knee, shoulder, elbow), Navigation- assisted surgery, arthroscopic surgery, osteotomies (rotational acetabular osteotomy, high tibial osteotomy, etc), ligament reconstruction Sports: arthroscopic surgery, ligament reconstruction, autologous cartilage transplant Hand: finger replantation, hand function reconstruction/ tendon transfer 2. Education School of Medicine: Lectures for medical students Subjects in clinical orthopaedic surgeries before clinical rotation, Orthopaedic part of emergency medicine Clinical clerkship for 4th/ 5th grade medical students Students spend one week experiencing general practice in the orthopaedic surgery by rounding all of our divisions.  AMPM Monday OR* (Joint surgery) Practice of basic surgical procedures (surgical tie, suture) Tuesday Ward (Round on joint patients) Clinic (Joint) Practice of Physical exam of the spine Wednesday general conference, Clinic (Spine) spine imaging (Myelography, root block)Textbook reading/Journal Club Thursday OR (Spine surgery) OR (Spine surgery)Practice of basic surgical procedures Friday Ward (Round on spine patients) OR (Hand surgery) Physical exam of joint * OR; Observation of surgeries in operation room Orthopaedic Residents:       Residents are expected to step up their clinical career by systemic rotation in the University and several affiliation hospitals. At the University, cases requiring complicated and advanced clinical and surgical strategies can be experienced as a treatment team member. At the affiliation hospitals cases of more common diseases can be experienced in larger volume as their doctor/surgeon.       Residents are also supposed to work on clinical researches with attending doctors of the rotation. They are expected to make presentations at local or national academic conferences. After finishing our curriculum, residents are ready to pass the orthopaedic board exam.
